About the Artist
It was suggested to me that I should right a little bit of a biography about myself to create a sense of kin to say, for my viewers. Granted there aren't many people who can actually understand a lot of the things I do anyway, but still. It's worth a shot at least' right? It was also suggested to me that I should spend the next three to four paragraph speaking of nothing but randomness and incessant giggling but I thought on it (for a long time too) and I decided that it would be best to avoid that. It might frighten some...especially seeing as it sometimes frightens me... Anyways, I do have a page on myspace.com as well, www.myspace.com/thecrawlingshoe, it's nothing like this page though, I would advise you not to waste the time, after all, it's just myspace.
Well where to begin...I live in Ohio, in a place that isn't really on the maps anyway so I won't bother with a title. I've lived out here for about two years now, and I plan on moving out here in a couple of years or so. I grew up just outside of Dayton, in one of those places you hate with burning passion until you end up having to leave; then you just want to cry. I've been doing art since I was old enough to hold a crayon. My dad tells me I was drawing characters from "The Elephant Show" when I was just a toddler. I am attending school at Sinclair Community College for my associates degree, then I plan on transferring to art school, which one is yet undecided...I know I need get to that... Besides art, I have taken a particular interest in learning. I hang out in libraries all the time, mostly studying history, art, and culture. Oh and I mustn't forget Shakespeare. He is by far, my favourite writer and playwright. The man truly was a genius, there's no doubt. If you don't notice from my photography, I also have a bit of a love for cemeteries. There's just something about the serenity of such a place that is really attractive. It can evoke so much emotion and so much thought. It really is a great place to find inspiration. I also shouldn't fail to mention my musical influences. My range of tastes spread across quite a spectrum of genres and artists. I love the classical genius of Mozart and Beethoven. Then again I also love the bad ass genius of Night Wish, Fintroll, and Zeromancer. One can't forget to mention the ultimate in bad ass-ness of the eighties either. Now if that wasn't the dorkiest decade ever, I don’t know what was. Who couldn't love it? (S-S-S-S-A-A-A-A-F-F-F-F-E-E-E-E-T-T-T-T-Y-Y-Y-Y SAFETY DANCE!...yes.)
Despite all that loveliness though, there is only one main source of my inspiration. I am madly in love with my God. I can honestly say that of it were not for Him, I would have long since been dead. With God my perception of life has been entirely altered. I believe this is why I am able to create the things that I do. I see the world in a much different way than most people. I do not see grey. I can't see grey. Everything I see is real and true, it's never watered down and I have prayed about that long and hard before. I thank God for that. (Reference piece: The Prayer) In the past few months I have become extremely strong in my faith because of that. Too many things have happened to me to believe that God is anything but a true and loving figure. I cannot base my faith on something that I cannot prove so yes, there is definitely a God and yes there has definitely been a messiah. I believe that faith and science coincide entirely and it's really not that hard to see, it's just that being humans, we have trouble with understanding that because we tend over think everything. The answers are a lot easier than you think...
Anyways now that I've had my soapbox moment and probably pissed some one off (because that's bound to happen no matter what you say) I'd just like to say...wow I can't believe you read this all the way through, and I really hope you enjoy my work.
If you like my work and would like me to participate in any commissions, or if you just have a question, email me and I'll be happy to respond.
